The sight of the American flag being raised, the national anthem playing, and gold medals being placed around the necks of these athletes, whose hands were held over their hearts, marked the proudest moment of Kerr's life.
As a coach, former player, husband, son, father, grandfather, and American, Kerr believes in a certain kind of leadership. He values dignity, honesty, the ability to laugh at oneself, and a genuine care and love for the people being led. He believes leaders should possess knowledge and expertise, while also recognizing that no one has all the answers, and that some of the best solutions often come from the team. Kerr suggests that the qualities people look for in their friends, bosses, teachers, or mayors should also be the qualities they desire in their president.
